Unexpectedly, Matteo, who was born into an affluent family, rejected Kurt’s decision without hesitation.
He was even willing to let the latter step on his shoulder.
Kurt appeared hesitant for a while.
Eventually, he chose to comply with Matteo. He stepped on his shoulders and started digging for the crystals.
Their efficiency increased gradually due to their teamwork.
In the blink of an eye, Kurt’s cloth bag was filled to the brim.
“Is that enough?”
“It should be. We have to leave soon. If the next wave hits again, we will be in danger. We are right at the place where it hits.”
Matteo had a keen observation and paid attention to the tiniest details.
Previously, he had mastered all the wave patterns of the big river. As such, he read the situation and knew the danger that was about to approach.
Kurt obeyed him right away.
The two boys packed the black stones and left that hazardous area. After that, they climbed back up to safety after finding Lucy, who was still tied with a steel cable.
“Matt, you guys are finally back… Huh? Kurt? When did you go down too?”
Vivian, who had been waiting, was delighted to see Matteo. Yet, the next moment, she was stunned upon seeing Kurt.
While Kurt was at a loss for words, Matteo uttered, “I was the one who told him to go down as two people weren’t efficient enough. We’ve collected many of the black stones. Now we can go save Daddy.”
Matteo was sharp enough to notice Kurt’s nervousness. He knew the latter did not want to let Vivian know about it. Hence, he answered her question on Kurt’s behalf.
As expected, Vivian was immediately attracted to the bag full of black stones.
“That’s great. Let’s go save Daddy now.”
“Okay.”
With that, they came out of the cave happily.
That evening, Sasha, accompanying her eldest son at Oceanic Estate, heard the kids managed to get the black stones successfully.
Overwhelmed with joy, she went up the mountain without delay.
“Mommy, look. We’ve got the black stones. You can save Daddy now.”
“Yes.”
Her children ran toward her excitedly and showed her their achievements.
Upon seeing that, tears of gratitude welled up in Sasha’s eyes.
She was thankful that she had three obedient and brilliant kids. At the age of sixteen, they were already independent like their father.
Sasha hugged them tightly.
“Okay. I will take these to save your daddy right now. You guys must be exhausted. Go and grab some rest.”
“Okay. Mommy!” Vivian responded with a sweet smile.
However, right after Sasha left, the kids gathered in secret again.
“Matt, are you saying we should go back to Oceanic Estate?”
“Yes, let’s tell Ian this good news. He is depressed because of Daddy. I’m sure he will be happy if we tell him about this,” Matteo analyzed smartly.
Kurt agreed after hearing his words.
The trio then went down the mountain before the sky turned dark.
Lucy was somehow sad to see them leave. After all, they were almost the same age and had been through a lot together.
“Are you guys leaving?” she uttered.
“Huh?”
Upon hearing that, Vivian paused in her tracks.
Matteo also turned around and glanced at Lucy, who looked reluctant.
“Yes, we are going home. Do you want to come with us?”
“Can I?”
Lucy’s eyes lit up with excitement.
She seldom had the chance to go down the mountain.
It was the rule of the natives living there. They were required to stay within their village and not leave unless it was necessary.
Seeing her acting so joyously, Matteo could not bear to reject her. Hence, they told Shin and took Lucy with them.
After all, they would be back sooner or later.
They thought they should bring her down to have some fun as a token of appreciation for her help.
That evening, after they went back to Oceanic Estate, Matteo immediately ran to Ian’s room and told him the good news.
As expected, Ian did not smash anything that night.
He even ate the meal sent by the maids.
Meanwhile, Vivian invited Lucy to sleep in her room. They shared a bed at night.
“Vivian, your house is so huge. By the way, are you and your brothers triplets?”
“Yes. Ian is the eldest, Matteo is the second, and I’m the youngest.”
The two girls continued to chat happily in bed after switching off the lights.
