Chapter 1555 He Is Powerful
Matteo acted fast and finished packing all the stuff in a few minutes. He was getting ready to take Lucy down the hole.
“Matt, please be careful.”
Vivian was worried about him. Before he left, she ran over to him and reminded him to be careful. Her eyes beamed with tears.
Matteo reached his hand and tapped her nose playfully.
“Okay. Don’t worry. I will be back soon.” After saying that, he led Lucy, and they both jumped down a hole in the training base.
At that instant, the base became utterly quiet.
It was usual for young people their age to be anxious about dealing with serious matters as such. Plus, it sounded very dangerous based on the information they got.
After Matteo left, Vivian kept guarding the hole. She did not even dare to breathe loudly or shift her gaze.
Nevertheless, there was no movement for a long while.
“Kurt? Where are you?”
She realized there was no one behind her.
She climbed out of the hole and started searching around the base.
Still, she saw no one there.
The only thing that caught her attention was a bag placed at the entrance and a pair of radiation protection shoes.
Did Kurt go out?
Upon seeing those two things, Vivian thought Kurt had left.
She heaved a sigh of relief. She walked back to the hole which Matteo went down. While waiting for him, she kept an eye at the entrance.
Little did she know that Kurt had also gone down the hole.
The latter knew the layout better than Lucy. There was a map in his mind, and he knew all the details about the place.
With that, Kurt reached the underground.
The first thing he heard was the loud roaring sound of the water current. His heart skipped a beat as it sent shivers down his spine.
With fully-gloved hands, Kurt tightly held on to the steel cable that was wrapped around his body.
He grabbed his torchlight and gazed upward, trying to find the crystals.
Just then, he thought he heard a female scream. “Ahh….”
“Lucy!”
A moment later, Matteo’s shout rang out too.
Upon hearing that, Kurt grabbed the steel cable and intended to swing over to see what was happening. However, something unexpected took him by surprise.
“Argh!”
Another tragic scream reverberated around the area.
Kurt was bewildered to see a human figure get thrown out of the mist. The figure looked like a tiny ant compared to the tall wave.
Kurt was rendered speechless.
Without hesitation, he swung himself toward the wave.
In the blink of an eye, he managed to grab Lucy and bring her to safety.
Matteo was left in awe upon seeing that heroic scene. The color drained from his face as he could not save Lucy.
The latter, who was finally rescued, leaned against Kurt while hugging him tightly. Ten seconds passed, and she still did not let go of him.
Kurt’s expression turned cold.
“All right. It’s fine now.”
He pushed her away abruptly and tied a steel cable to her waist.
Lucy was rendered speechless.
Before she could say anything, Matteo went over to them. His eyes widened in awe.
“Hey, Kurt. Since when did you become so powerful? Haven’t you been studying all this while?”
He sounded utterly displeased.
After all, he had promised to protect them but failed.
Kurt, two years younger than Matteo, lowered his face awkwardly.
“Mr. Hayes asked Mr. Frost to teach me some combat arts when I accompanied Vivian to study in Yartran. He was worried the two of us might get bullied.”
“Uh…”
Matteo was speechless upon hearing that.
No wonder he is so strong. He had such a good master. D*mn it. Daddy even let Mr. Frost teach him. I am his son, but I don’t even get this privilege.
A short while later, Matteo turned delighted again. He had always been an optimistic person.
Plus, Matteo figured Kurt could be a good assistant since the latter was so capable.
“Good. Let’s get the black stones then. Lucy will stay here. We’ve found the location, after all.”
“Okay,” Kurt agreed right away.
As such, the two boys departed once again.
This time, due to their strong abilities, they reached those black crystals in a short time.
“They are too high. One of us needs to give the other a lift.” Matteo lowered his head and looked at the roaring current beneath them.
Kurt understood the situation too.
