Jared fell into deep thought. It seems there aren’t many people we can turn to for help in the Ethereal Realm. Aside from the Tall family and Jipsdale, which may offer assistance, no one else would lend a hand. However, the Tall family and Jipsdale are too far away to provide immediate help. At the moment, we can only rely on Imperial Beast City’s own strength to withstand the attack from Norwal City.
“Right now, we must figure out a way on our own. We cannot pin all our hopes on others. How much do you know about the true strength of Norwal City? With Norwal City’s troops deployed, does that mean the city itself is now poorly guarded?” Jared asked Yuven.
“This time, King Lucian is leading the army personally, and most of the personnel from Norwal City have been mobilized, indeed leaving the city’s defenses sparse. Could it be that you want to relieve the crisis at Imperial Beast City by attacking Norwal City, forcing King Lucian to return?” Upon hearing Jared’s questions, Yuven quickly grasped what he was planning.
“That’s right!” Jared nodded.
“Mr. Chance, that’s a good idea, but unfortunately, Norwal City’s army has besieged the entire Imperial Beast City. Even the secret passages are guarded by their soldiers. There’s simply no way for us to leave! If we can’t get out of Imperial Beast City, how are we supposed to launch an attack on Norwal City?” Yuven knew that was a viable strategy, but unfortunately, they couldn’t dispatch even a single soldier under the current circumstances.
“There’s definitely a way. Everyone should get some rest tonight because tomorrow, Norwal City will definitely resume attacking.” At that moment, Jared hadn’t figured out how to leave Imperial Beast City without alarming Lucian.
Hence, he suggested everyone rest first while he took his time to devise a solution. Yuven nodded before heading off with Ivasha to get some rest. Instead of calling it a day, Jared headed straight to the top of the city wall with Cloud.
Gazing down from the city wall at the mountains of corpses and bloody mess before him, Jared fathomed the battle the next day would undoubtedly be more brutal than today’s.
Although his capabilities had attained significant advancement, when facing a fray involving more than tens or even hundreds of thousands of enemies, his power alone appeared somewhat inadequate.
Jared was also thinking of crippling the enemy’s ranks by defeating their leader first, but Lucian was a formidable opponent. In addition, Jared was sure the latter would be closely protected by multiple experts.
Hence, it would likely be an arduous task for him to break into the enemy camp and seize Lucian.
“Mr. Chance, there are spiritual lights flickering around Imperial Beast City. Evidently, an arcane array has been laid out. Therefore, you don’t have to worry too much.”
Noticing the glimmering spiritual lights around Imperial Beast City, Cloud swiftly concluded an arcane array was in place.
Moreover, he reckoned the large arcane array established around a city like Imperial Beast City would certainly not be weak and wouldn’t be easily broken through.
Jared had already realized the presence of the arcane array around Imperial Beast City, but the arcane array possessed merely limited power and wasn’t that robust.
“Although there is an arcane array around Imperial Beast City, it’s just a defensive one, and it’s not durable enough. It’ll definitely be breached tomorrow,” Jared said with his brows furrowed.
“What should we do then? Without the protection from the arcane array, the walls of Imperial Beast City alone would be insufficient to ward off Norwal City’s army,” Cloud responded in a panic after listening to Jared’s analysis.
After all, Norwal City’s army was made up of transformed demon beasts. Without the obstruction provided by the arcane array, the enemies could easily leap over even the towering city walls.
The city walls could only impede ordinary people. There was simply no way such a barrier could stop the Norwal City’s army.
“Follow me out of the city. I need to lay out another grand arcane array, so you’ll have to guard me,” Jared said to Cloud.
“Okay!” Cloud nodded. Subsequently, the two jumped up and headed straight out of Imperial Beast City. After choosing a suitable location, Jared asked Cloud to stand guard over him. Then, he took out a few charms and started setting up the arcane array.
Jared was planning to install a Death Trap Formation since a defensive arcane array alone couldn’t possibly halt the grand army of Norwal City.
