“Huh! This is strange… Jared frowned. “It seems like things are more complicated than we expected, the elder uttered in a somber tone.
Jared quickly scanned his surroundings. That old demon has died and transformed into a cloud of black mist before fading away. He was actually just a soul remnant. However, over the years, his soul remnant ended up looking like a real body. If he had swallowed the Ice Soul Pill! Now, his soul remnant is gone, so there’s no way he’s still alive!
“Sir, what exactly is going on?” Jared asked int puzzlement.
“He has escaped. Although he’s merely a soul remnant, he has sent a part of his soul elsewhere! His world will remain as long as there’s a strain of his soul remnant left! Yet, since he only has a strain of soul remnant left, I think he’s no longer a threat. He should be weak now, and he won’t live for very long!” the elder explained slowly..
Jared also didn’t expect the old demon to be so meticulous. Who would’ve thought that the old demon would keep a strain of his soul remnant elsewhere?
Right when Jared was about to let out a sigh of relief, he heard a cold voice ringing out.
“Brother, you underestimate me. Did you really think I would escape?” Typhon stepped forward and flashed a vicious smile.
The rest of the Five Slayers were staring at Typhon in bafflement. Although they were shocked, they seemed to have seen that coming.
Apparently, the rest knew something was wrong when Typhon suddenly changed his expression moments earlier. As it turns out, the old demon has possessed Typhon’s body! The old demon couldn’t possibly merge with Typhon’s body in such a short period of time. Hence, Typhon must be possessed! Jared drew his brows together and glanced at Typhon.
“I see that you’ve possessed someone! However, you only have a strain of your soul remnant left. Even with the possession, you’re no longer powerful. Why didn’t you just flee? Did you think you could win against me by possessing someone?” Jared asked calmly.
“Possession?” The old demon smiled. “I don’t possess others. This body is now mine!”
Those words stunned everyone at the scene. Clearly, the old demon didn’t possess Typhon. Instead, he had exterminated Typhon’s divine soul.
That way, Typhon’s body was only controlled by the old demon’s soul remnant. The body truly belonged to the old demon then, If the old demon’s soul remnant were to leave the body, only Typhon’s corpse would remain.
The rest of the Five Slayers were shocked and angry. Yet, there was nothing they could do about it. Since they had chosen to cooperate with the old demon, they had to work with him till the end. If the old demon comes out victorious, we’ll walk out of here alive! In other words, sacrificing Typhon seems like a fair price to pay.
With that in mind, the rest of the Five Slayers felt a sense of relief. After all, everyone had to look out for themselves, and that was especially the case for people like them.
“Do you really think you can defeat me? You only have a strain of your soul remnant left. How powerful do you think you are? Even if I don’t attack, you still can’t defeat me!” Jared’s gaze was filled with disdain. Even if the old demon doesn’t possess someone else, he only has that bit of his soul remnant left. I bet he has less than one percent of his strength left! There’s nothing to be afraid of!
“You’re right. I’m weak now, but you seem to have forgotten about something…” The old demon whipped out his Ice Soul Pill.
At that moment, the black spots on the Ice Soul Pill had disappeared, and the pill was as white as snow.
“I initially wanted to use it to reconstruct my flesh and regain my strength. Now, I guess I can only recover part of my strength. As for reconstructing my flesh, I’ll come up with something else. Today, I only have one thing on my mind, and that’s to kill you!” As soon as the old demon finished talking, he swallowed the Ice Soul Pill.
Seeing that, Jared swung his sword, hoping he could stop the old demon. Unfortunately, Jared failed, and the old demon managed to swallow the Ice Soul Pill.
