Jared had already sensed the girl’s serious injuries. She was merely pretending to be strong. As soon as Jared said that, the girl paled and spewed a fountain of fresh blood before falling backward.
Instantly, Jared caught her in his arms and channeled his spiritual energy into her body. It took a moment before the girl slowly opened her eyes and found herself lying in Jared’s embrace. She quickly got up, pulling away from him.
“What did you do to me?”
Fear was written all over her face.
“If I hadn’t saved you, you’d have died here long ago,” Jared replied in frustration.
The girl examined her body and indeed felt much better. Still, he looked warily at Jared and asked, “Why did you save me? We don’t know each other, and I even hurt your people. Even if you saved me, I wouldn’t tell you the location of the ice soul fragment, so just give up.”
“I fear that you have really misunderstood our intentions here,” Jared said, letting out a cold chuckle before he turned to look at the Three Bandits. “Let’s go and ignore this madwoman.”
When Jared was about to leave with his group, the girl suddenly called out, “Wait!”
“What now? I told you, I don’t know what the ice soul fragment is, and I’m not trying to take it from you. Will you just stop this nonsense?” Jared responded, visibly annoyed.
“I’m sorry, I-I just wanted to thank you for saving me,” the girl said in embarrassment.
“No need to thank me. Just don’t turn on me,” Jared replied gruffly, ready to leave again. This time, the girl chased after him, blocking his way.
“What now?” Jared flared up.
“Could you help me retrieve the ice soul fragment?” she asked. “Why should I help you? We don’t know each other, and you hurt my people. I am already being gracious not causing you trouble, and you still want my help?” Jared’s voice was cold.
“I won’t let you help me for nothing. Once we get the ice soul fragment, I can give you half of it. Even half a piece of ice soul fragment can greatly increase your powers,” the girl hurriedly said. Jared’s interest was piqued. “What exactly is this ice soul fragment? Why is it so powerful?”
The girl looked at Jared. He truly has no idea what the ice soul fragment is. “All you need to know is that it’s a treasure. This freezing land is created by the ice soul fragment.”
“Since it’s a treasure, why do you need my help to retrieve it? Can’t you take it yourself?” Jared asked, puzzled.
“There are demon beasts guarding the ice soul fragment. I’m no match for them. My injuries were caused by one of them,” the girl confessed.
“Even you are no match for those demon beasts. I’m only at Second Level Body Fusion Realm. Surely, there’s no way I can beat those demon beasts. So, it’s pointless asking for my help.” Jared shook his head.
“Don’t be modest. Your strength is definitely above mine. You have masked your true strength. Don’t think you can deceive me. If you were only at Second Level Body Fusion Realm, you wouldn’t have been able to withstand my oppressive aura. Moreover, these three right here are at a higher level than you, yet they have submitted themselves to you. That is impossible, especially in Ethereal Realm where strength matters more than anything else,” the girl said.
Jared smiled after listening to her analysis. “You’re quite sharp. All right, I’ll help you retrieve that ice soul fragment.”
Then, he turned to the Three Bandits and said, “The three of you wait here. The others will be here soon.”
