Triplet’s Secret Chapter 39

Chapter 39 Is This Replacing The Old For The New

“Actually, there is no personal relationship between Mr. Feng and me, so don’t worry about it,” Zhong Zhen whispered to Zhang Junyan. She hoped that this would dissipate the misunderstanding between them and stop Zhang Junyan from putting up her guard. But her words was perceived differently by Zhang Junyan.

“Huh, what a carefree life you have. May you drown in the river of love.” She walked away with a huff.

Fine, I was just trying to clarify the situation with you. What an impossible woman.

Zhong Zhen stared after Zhang Junyan silhouette. She knew that they were in the company office, so she refrained from chasing after her. Even if she did so, there was no guarantee that the misunderstanding would be resolved.

She had no choice but to continue her work as she needed to be on time to wake Feng Beichen up from his nap.

Time does not wait for anyone, and everyone has an equal amount of time in a day. Thus, everyone has the responsibility to manage their own schedule.

Feng Beichen had a meeting in the afternoon. Zhong Zhen took the opportunity to call the kindergarten and checked on Zhong Tianyou.

The education provided by Wen He and me was not in vain. The kid is very independent and he is performing great in kindergarten. What a relief! If he is a troublemaker, it would be very stressful.

Feng Beichen needed to continue his work in the evening, so Zhong Zhen had to accompany him.

Jiang Yingyou felt that the matter was unsettled. After contemplating on it, she called her mother and spoke softly, “I don’t care, the matter should not be settled as such. It was you who urged me to go to the blind date which made me slide down the rabbit hole. You have to be responsible for it.”

Her mother had a soft spot for her precious daughter, so she felt compelled to attend to her daughter’s needs and wants.

“Alright, alright. I’ll talk to your Aunt Lu,” she placated her daughter and agreed that this matter should be communicated among the elders.

Zhong Zhen reached home at 9:30 pm. She considered the working hours as acceptable, but she was unsure of Feng Beichen’s daily working routine yet to know if the clock-out time was considered early or late from the usual.

“Prepare the water for me. I want to take a bath,” Feng Beichen ordered. It was rare for him to be home at this hour; normally, he would need to work until midnight.

If he had any extra free time, he would use it to enjoy life.

“Yes.” Zhong Zhen answered and swiftly walked to the bathroom upstairs. She was familiar with the layout of the bathroom as she had been cleaning it.

When she was entering Feng Beichen’s room, Zhang Junyan walked out of the room adjacent to it.

“Ah!” Zhong Zhen let out a scream as it was a scary moment for her. She patted her own chest and calmed herself down. “Ms. Zhang, why are you here?” she asked shakily.

Feng Beichen heard the commotion and turned around. He took note of the situation but entered his bedroom without a word.

Zhang Junyan who had seen Feng Beichen placidly greeted, “Hello, Mr. Feng.” It did not matter if he heard her or not. She knew that when communicating with Feng Beichen, she had to express her intentions subtly. She had every intention to keep her work and stay at his side.

“I am here to collect my belongings, please have a look,” Zhang Junyan explained indifferently as she re-entered the room.

Zhong Zhen followed her and saw the two boxes on the couch. The boxes were not sealed and contained clothes and other daily necessities.

“You are…” Zhong Zhen was unnerved with the realization that she was staying in the room where Zhang Junyan had been staying. She felt that she had robbed Zhang Junyan by taking over her job, as if it was an act of replacing the old with the new.

Zhang Junyan continued, “If I don’t clear my belongings, how are you going to use this room? Hmph. Check the boxes for any issues. They contain my personal belongings. Also, remember to check your own belongings to see if any of them are missing.”

What an unfortunate situation! But of course, it was a common occurrence to be replaced at work. It would be uncommon for a person to do the same work for his or her whole life. When it happened, it was common and unavoidable for the replaced person to feel desolate.

Zhong Zhen didn’t plan to check the boxes. Her belongings were of little worth, and it would be useless for Zhang Junyan to take them anyway. Zhong Zhen also believed that Zhang Junyan would not stoop so low to steal her belongings.

“It is alright, Ms. Zhang. If you need any help in packing your belongings, please do tell me.” She pointed toward Feng Beichen’s bedroom and said, “I need to go and prepare the bath for Mr. Feng now.”

Those words sounded intimate; Zhong Zhen blushed after saying them out loud.

Zhang Junyan laughed as she understood the situation well. Feng Beichen was a very disciplined person, and she had also viewed him as an upright person.

“Relax. Mr. Feng prefers a massage during the bath, so please do a good job.” Zhang Junyan sneered and pointed toward the boxes, “Please check them as one can never be too careful.”

Zhong Zhen shook her head decisively and responded, “It is unneeded, Ms. Zhang. I will leave you be.” Then, she quickly left. Although she had only worked for Feng Beichen for a short while, she had inferred that he did not like waiting. She also wanted to escape from the awkward conversation with Zhang Junyan.

“Then I wish you a happy working experience!” Zhang Junyan’s words were dripping with sarcasm.
