Chapter 34 What A Sweet Lady
“What do you know about me?” Feng Beichen changed the subject and asked her about what she mentioned earlier downstairs.
He hated people talking behind his back. Since he overheard her, he wanted to ask her what she knew and at the same time make sure that she wouldn’t expose too many of his secrets to others in the future.
Zhong Zhen felt like a weight had been lifted from her back as she answered him softly, “I guessed you were there at the hospital to visit a woman?”
Feng Beichen’s expression turned colder as he stared at her. Zhong Zhen could feel his aura turning hostile.
“Do you know what the single most important taboo during work is?” Feng Beichen’s gaze pierced through her. Zhong Zhen suddenly realized that she should act dumb in this situation.
She hurriedly changed the subject, “My apologies, Mr. Feng. Given my mother’s health condition, I probably would need to visit her frequently at the hospital.”
At this moment, she promised herself to be careful of what came out of her mouth in the future.
“Prepare my clothes!” Feng Beichen closed his eyes. He needed to focus from now on with all the work piling up and all those people to meet.
Phew! Seems like my day is saved!
“Yes, sir.” Zhong Zhen replied softly and added, “Do you need me to prepare a hot bath for you?” Since her job scope was to take care of his private matters, she might as well be considerate the entire time.
“Go ahead,” Feng Beichen answered in a low voice.
Zhong Zhen quickly went into his bathroom to prepare his bath water and other bath essentials. After he came in, she started preparing his attire as well.
She was quick to complete her task as she had a knack for fashion.
By the time Feng Beichen had finished his bath, his clothes were well prepared. With her past experience, she didn’t feel uncomfortable anymore.
As Feng Beichen headed toward the door, he suddenly turned and asked, “Don’t you need to babysit that kid?” A kid at that age needed maternal care the most. No matter what kind of mother one was, a mother’s love was crucial.
“He’s at a kindergarten now. I will only need to bring him back during the weekends. If there’s any emergency during the weekend, I’ll send him to his teachers.” As Zhong Zhen was not given any time to conjure up lies, she answered him truthfully.
She was bad at lying. Whenever a topic was related to Zhong Tianyou, she would feel anxious.
Who would’ve thought a two-year-old can be so well-behaved? Maybe I should have him over to play with my twins?
He had always thought that Lu Jing was overprotective and doted too much on the twins. They should be taught to become more independent.
A child’s education was complicated work. Planning was definitely not enough to ensure their success in life.
“I see,” Feng Beichen answered and went out.
What was that supposed to mean? Zhong Zhen felt confused but couldn’t ask further at that point.
As Feng Beichen left for work, Zhong Zhen started to plan how to answer questions related to Zhong Tianyou from now on. She had to keep confidentiality of anything that was related to her son.
I thought Feng Beichen was supposed to go on a blind date yesterday. I wonder how it went. Do I have to serve a new lady boss soon?
Zhong Zhen laughed as she let her imagination go wild. Even though she still had low self-esteem from time to time but having the opportunity to work alongside Feng Beichen was a blissful thing. Even Xi Anan felt jealous of her position right now.
Right at this moment, she really wanted to know how Feng Beichen’s date went. It shouldn’t be that bad since it was arranged by Lu Jing. The candidate’s social status should be better than Xi Anan’s.
It sure felt good receiving all kinds of admiration from people.
As Zhong Zhen came down the stairs happily, Lin Qi was amazed. Now he believed that she had a special place in Feng Beichen’s heart.
Lin Qi was a very attentive person. He would usually complete his tasks without Feng Beichen having to give out orders, such as arranging the car for Zhong Zhen today.
Getting along with smart people definitely made life easier.
By the time Zhong Zhen had reached the office, it was already eleven. After going through Feng Beichen’s schedule, Zhong Zhen decided that she should order lunch for him in advance.
As she walked into his office, she asked softly, “Mr. Feng, what would you like to eat for lunch? Western or Chinese?”
“Claypot rice.” Feng Beichen answered swiftly without lifting his head.
As long as the food tasted good and came with well-balanced nutrition, he was fine with anything. But since he was not free to explain much to her right now, he would just let her know gradually.
“Alright,” Zhong Zhen replied and went to the desk located next to him.
Suddenly, Feng Beichen’s office phone rang. He gestured for her to pick it up.
This isn’t part of my job scope as I should be handling personal, non-work-related affairs only. But since he asked, I have no choice but to follow.
Once Zhong Zhen picked up, a flirtatious voice could be heard from the other end before she could say anything, “Mr. Feng, I’m already in your lobby.”
Oh my god! This flirting is at a whole new level.
“It’s for you,” Zhong Zhen lip-synced toward Feng Beichen. Only men would like this type of woman, she thought to herself.
Feng Beichen immediately knew who it was and answered, “Come on up.”
The flirtatious voice could be heard replying, “Are you sure it’s OK to come up now?”
Obviously, this meant that the woman was denied access downstairs, hence she was calling now.
Feng Beichen frowned and said coldly to Zhong Zhen, “Go and bring her up.”
Even if the woman was allowed entry, she would need the elevator access card to come up to this floor.
Thus, Zhong Zhen nodded, picked up the elevator access card and turned to leave.
