Not wanting to listen to anything that had to do with Jiang Mohan anymore, Zong Yanxi left with Tawan and Zhuang Zijin.
In truth, she did not want to look into this matter any further. After all, this had only happened because she came back to this accursed place. Since she did not live here, it was incredibly likely that she would not return here in the future after leaving this time.
But to Zhuang Jiawen, it did not matter if it was just a simple plan or a serious attempt on Zong Yanxi’s life. Either one was completely unacceptable.

That was why Zhuang Jiawen stayed behind as Zong Yanxi left with Tawan.
Since he was unable to locate Jiang Mohan, he had some men kidnap Nan Cheng. After placing a black bag over Nan Cheng’s head, he had taken his frustration and anger out on the man.
Poor Nan Cheng suffered a severe beating that left him bedridden for a week.
For Li Xiaohui, Zhuang Jiawen used his connections to snatch away every single business that had to do with her family’s company. All their previous business partners also broke off their contracts, citing that the products her family’s company manufactured were not up to standards. Either that or they would find every reasonable excuse they had to return those products.
In short, Li Xiaohui’s family business was running into a lot of trouble.
The products they had invested a huge sum of money in were now unable to be sold off, which meant they were not earning anything in return. The company was unable to operate without those funds and was currently suffering through a broken capital chain.
But that was not all.
Zhuang Jiawen had also set up a trap for Li Xiaohui.
In a foul mood at failing to kill Zong Yanxi, she headed to a bar to drink her frustrations away.
Unbeknownst to her, someone had drugged her drink and taken photos of her nude body.
So now the Li family not only had to deal with their failing business, Li Xiaohui’s nude photos were also spreading across the internet like wildfire.
Needless to say, the Li family was in an uproar over everything that was happening.

Due to Zhuang Zijin’s advanced age, a doctor was hired to look at her head injury. They were told that she needed a lot of rest. Whatever she wanted to do or eat, they should let her do so.
Above a certain age, every single day alive was to be seen as a blessing. Who knew when they would suddenly die the next day? Thus, it was best to not have any regrets left.
That was the exact reason why Zong Yanxi brought Zhuang Zijin out, so her grandmother would not have any regrets.
That night, Zong Yanxi gathered everyone in the living room.
Su Zhan teased, “So why did you ask us all to come here? Is there something really important you want to tell us? The only thing that comes to mind would be you getting married!”
Everybody had been worried she would have gamophobia after what happened last time. They were scared she would never believe in men, marriage, or even love again.
Zong Yanxi was struggling to find her words. She was not as courageous and daring as she had once been.
She was nothing like this back then when she had dragged Jiang Mohan before Zong Jinghao and Lin Xinyan.
At the time, the first thing out of her mouth was, “I want to marry Jiang Mohan. I’m not marrying anyone else but him.”
Tawan was rather familiar with her family. Thus, he did not feel the slightest bit daunted at facing them currently.
He knew Zong Yanxi was in desperate need of someone to protect her right now. Moving forward so he was standing by her side, he reached out to grab her hand.
His hand was broad and warm, completely engulfing her smaller hand in it.
She lifted her head to look at him but he did not return it. Instead, his gaze was focused on everyone else present in the room. All she could see was the sharply defined angle of his jaw.
Even though he had not spoken a single word, everyone could already guess what this was about due to his actions.
“Tawan…” Su Zhan glanced between Tawan and Zong Yanxi. “You two…”
“Yes. Yanxi and I have decided to be together.” To show how serious he was about this, Tawan fixed his gaze on Zong Jinghao. “I wish to marry your daughter and hope that you’ll agree.”
Having lived near Tawan when they were in Thailand, Zong Jinghao could safely say he knew what sort of character Tawan was. Back then, he had wanted his daughter to work at Tawan’s company precisely so the two younger adults could spend some time with each other.
He even dared to say he trusted Tawan.
But trust was one thing. Zong Yanxi had already been hurt once. No matter how much he liked Tawan, he would never easily agree after what happened last time.
Leaning back slowly, his expression was somber as he asked the younger man, “Have you thought over this carefully?”
“Yes.” Tawan instantly replied without any hesitation.
Lin Xinyan could not understand what her husband was doing. She knew he approved and thought highly of Tawan. Yet his attitude now was rather strange.
She did not interrupt the conversation, though she did extend a hand to hold Zong Jinghao’s. Through her gaze, she tried to express her curiosity and bewilderment.
He did not explain. However, he did pat the back of her hand gently, indirectly asking her to be a little more patient. He would tell her everything later.
Appeased, she settled down to watch quietly as Zong Jinghao continued his conversation with Tawan.
“I have three children but only this one daughter. Since young, she’s been the most precious thing to me. I’ve pampered and doted on her. She has never been left in need or want for anything. Of course, she’s bound to grow up sometime and in that process, pay the price for it. Despite that, she should only go through certain experiences once.” There was a barely detectable sharp look in Zong Jinghao’s dark orbs.
“I know.” Tawan was well aware that Zong Jinghao’s last sentence was referring to Zong Yanxi’s previous marriage.
He did not shy away from Zong Jinghao but raised his eyes to meet the older man’s gaze firmly. “My parents had a wonderful and blissful marriage, the sort of marriage that I’m hoping for as well. Unfortunately, they passed away when they were relatively young. This has left an empty hole in my heart ever since. However, Yanxi feels like home to me. She fills that gaping hole in my chest. I want to be with her; I want to have that kind of happy marriage my parents and you have.”
