When Nicholas learned about that, he immediately requested that the doctor teach him some massage techniques. The doctor asked for Tessa’s approval, after which he demonstrated the massage to Nicholas.
He was serious about learning, and even Tessa followed along. Two rounds of demonstration later, the doctor let Nicholas try it out.
He stood beside her with a serious look and a tense body, more nervous than when he signed contracts worth hundreds of millions.
“Am I doing it correctly?” He looked to the doctor, who nodded. “You’re still new to it, but your technique is correct. You need to keep practicing until you’re familiar with it.”
He nodded and asked Tessa, “How do you feel? Any discomfort?”
“Not too bad. It’s bearable.” She shared her thoughts candidly. He heaved a relieved sigh and continued massaging her abdomen with at serious expression.
The doctor noticed their nervousness and advised, “There’s no need to panic. If we can’t rectify this issue, you can always opt for a C- section. We have advanced technology to ensure the mother’s safety. Just keep your mood relaxed during the pregnancy.”
When the couple went home, they found Stefania, Tobias, and Kieran there. The three were aware that Tessa was due for her final pregnancy checkup, so they rushed over early to get the latest updates on the baby. Going up to the couple, they started asking for details with much concern. “How’s the checkup?”
“Is everything okay with the baby?” Nicholas was truthful about the doctor’s checkup and consultation. “The baby’s in malposition. The doctor said there’s a possibility of an obstructed childbirth.”
His parents gasped. “An obstructed childbirth?” Stefania added, “How could that happen? I never heard about this from the doctor in the previous checkups!”
“What did the doctor say? Does she need to be warded for that?” Tobias was concerned and gave Nicholas an anxious look.
Kieran had zero knowledge about fetal malposition, but he was aware of the gravity of difficult childbirth, which could lead to the death of the mother and the child. At the thought of it, he started lecturing his brother, “Why did you bring her home even after the doctor’s words? She should stay in the hospital for treatment!”
Tessa felt warm when she saw how worried they were for her. “Dad, Mom, Kieran, don’t worry about me. The doctor said there is still time to correct the baby’s position. Everything will be fine if we get this done before the birth,” she assured them while looking at Nicholas and hinting at him to say something.
By then, he had regained his composure. He took her hint and comforted his family. “Don’t worry. I asked the doctor and did some research on my way back. There are some risks, but we have the chance to turn it around.”
Hearing that, the trio finally felt more relieved. They asked at once, “What did the doctor suggest? Do we need to help with anything?”
“We need Kieran’s help.” Nicholas looked at his younger brother and announced the plan he came up with in the car. “I learned some massage techniques from the doctor to correct the malposition. Before the baby’s arrival, I need to reduce my work hours and stay at home to help Tessa out.”
“Yes. Nothing’s more important than the baby now. Stefania agreed and nodded. Then, she turned to Kieran and reminded him, “You should focus more on the company in the future so that Nicholas doesn’t have to worry.”
Tobias chimed in. “I will hang around the company during this time. If you run into any problems, come to me instead of troubling Nicholas.” Stefania wholeheartedly agreed with the suggestion.
