Chapter 1131 No Match For Him
“It was a misunderstanding, Mr. Norton. But why has the Norton family come all the way to an impoverished area like Xenhall to build a house?” Coby asked Skylar.
Skylar knew Coby was unaware of Pentacarna Tower’s secret, and he had no intention of letting the latter know. Hence, he merely smiled and replied, “Although Xenhall is barren, it has a pleasant environment, beautiful views, and is peaceful. It’s an ideal spot for cultivation. Besides, the Gardners and the Nortons have always been on good terms. The Gardner family is facing a difficult time, and someone murdered Mr. Gardner. Hence, I want to rebuild this place so that the Gardner family’s descendants have a place to come back to.”
Coby chuckled when he heard that. “I didn’t expect Mr. Norton to be so kind! However, Xenhall is not as peaceful as Jadeborough. Barbaric Demonic Cultivators turn up here from time to time, and it’d be too huge of a loss if they were to harm you. As someone accustomed to the finer things in life, I’m sure you’ll find it difficult to get used to staying here. It’ll be better to leave the rebuilding of the Gardner family’s manor to my family. After all, our two families have known each other for a long time and live close to each other.”
Skylar furrowed his brows at those words, and his expression darkened.
I can tell that he’s actually going to fight with me for the Gardner family’s piece of land. I wouldn’t be interested in this shabby spot if it weren’t because of Pentacarna Tower’s existence. But because the tower is here, I won’t let others have this place regardless of who it is.
Skylar looked grim, and there was a cold glint in his eyes as he asked Coby, “Do you mean to say that you’re going to fight with me for this land?”
Coby admitted frankly, “If you insist on thinking that way, there’s nothing for me to explain. You live far away in Jadeborough, yet you’ve come to Xenhall to seize this land from us. Don’t you think that’s a little too much?”
“Hmph! Why would you guys from Marsingfill care about what I’m doing in Xenhall? You aren’t qualified to criticize me. I’m telling you, I’m determined to get my hands on this place. If you’re unwilling to give up, let’s battle it out. I’d like to see whether the Rowling family is more capable or us Nortons. Don’t think we’ll be afraid of you just because we live further away!”
Skylar had an adamant look on his face. I’m hell-bent on having this piece of land, and I won’t give it up to anyone else!
Coby did not think that Skylar would be that determined to have the plot of land, and he found it rather unexpected.
Despite feeling angry, Coby knew it would not be worth it to get into an argument with Skylar just because of the Gardner family’s dilapidated residence.
However, should the Norton family have a place to settle down in Xenhall, it’ll be even more difficult for the Rowling family to expand our power in the future.
After pondering for a while, Coby relented. He smiled and said, “Since you’ve taken such a liking to this place, you can use it as you wish. How could I possibly have a fallout with you over a plot of land? Do drop by the Rowling residence whenever you have time. I’ll definitely give you a warm welcome…”
Not knowing about Pentacarna Tower’s secret, he compromised and left.
If he had known about it, there was no doubt he would have fought to the death with Skylar.
Skylar finally breathed a sigh of relief after he saw Coby leave. As the saying goes, “No matter how powerful someone is, they don’t stand a chance against someone with home advantage.” If Coby had decided to attack, I wouldn’t have been a match for him. And even if the Norton family were to send people from such a distance to battle the Rowling family, there’s no saying who’d end up victorious.
Turning to his subordinate, Skylar asked, “How long have I been cultivating for this time?”
“Mr. Norton, you’ve been cultivating for nearly half a month…” the subordinate replied.
A look of joy appeared on Skylar’s face. “Half a month! At this rate, I’m sure to make it to become a Semi Martial Arts Marquis before New Year’s! Hahaha!”
He burst into wild laughter, then looked toward Joshua and instructed, “We have to speed up the construction of the manor. In the future, this is where I’ll live.”
“Yes, sir…” Joshua nodded.
Then, Skylar turned and walked into Pentacarna Tower to resume his cultivation.
